The Rhode Island Health Department has confirmed the 9th  H1N1 death in Rhode Island since September 1st, 2009.  A 65 year old woman with underlying medical conditions passed away on Thanksgiving. Currently there is no information on where the woman resided in Rhode Island.

On November 24, it was reported that a man in his mid-fifties from Northern Rhode Island died from the H1N1 flu. He was the eighth person to die from H1N1 in the state, preceded by seven more deaths since September 1. 

Another Rhode Islander is currently fighting for her life out of state after contracting the H1N1 flu. A college student from Barrington remains on life support at a North Carolina hospital. Lillian Chason, a freshman at the University of North Carolina, is fighting the H1N1 flu virus. According to the facebook group, "Prayers For Lillian," she has been in critical condition at the hospital since November 23.
