LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky officials say health workers will be among the first in line to be vaccinated against a swine flu outbreak that has become widespread.

State health officials said Thursday that the state should receive its first shipment of swine flu vaccine next week. Department for Public Health state epidemiologist Dr. Kraig Humbaugh says Kentucky is expected to get an initial allocation of 24,300 doses of nasal vaccine.

Humbaugh says the doses will be designed for health care workers under age 50, people caring for young children and children and young adults from ages 2 to 24.

Kentucky's public health Commissioner Dr. William Hacker says more shipments will arrive, with injectable forms of the vaccine expected in coming weeks.

The flu outbreak has forced some school districts to close. The state has reported one swine flu death

LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - A spokesman for Louisville's mayor says a 41-year-old woman who died late last month had swine flu.

Mayoral spokesman Chris Poynter said Friday that lab results indicated the woman had the H1N1 virus.

Poynter says the woman appeared to have no other health problems.

It's the second reported swine flu death in Kentucky.

The first fatality was a Fayette County woman in her 50s who officials said had "significant underlying health conditions."

Health officials also are trying to determine whether swine flu contributed to a recent death in western Kentucky.
