County students to get H1N1 consent forms

Tuesday, October 13, 2009
From staff reports
Huntsville Times

Next week, students in Madison County Schools could get consent forms to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine at their schools, Superintendent Terry Davis said Monday.

The shots likely would be administered later this month to students whose parents consent to the shots. Davis said he wants as many students as possible to be vaccinated for the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.

Davis and the board are expected to discuss vaccination plans in more detail this afternoon at 5:15. The board meets at the school district's central office at 1275 Jordan Road.

The planning will start Wednesday when school nurses will be trained to administer the vaccines, which will be provided by the county Health Department.

The H1N1 virus has killed 76 American children, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
